Richard & Mirian Sturz
Missionaries to Brazil
Richard and Mirian are both from São Paulo, Brazil; Richard is a second generation missionary and Mirian, a Brazilian national. They minister in their local church where Richard serves as the Pastor of Missions, Discipleship and Evangelism. Their church, the Igreja Batista do Cambuí (Cambuí Baptist Church), is missionary-focused and a primary force for missions within the Brazilian Baptist denomination. Richard coordinates both the missionary care and ongoing communication with their partners as well as developing missions trips and strategies to locations scattered across Brazil and overseas. He has been privileged to minister in Argentina, Mozambique, South Africa and India on various trips. He has a heart for discipleship, with well over 100 discipleship relationships over the years. Richard also pastors a small, English-speaking congregation in their city, Campinas, São Paulo state, on a part-time basis. He is president of a publishing house, Edições Vida Nova (New Life Publications), which produces major theological and reference works for pastors, seminaries and church leaders. He received his B.A. in Religious Studies from Westmont College and an M.Div. from Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, CA.
