- Dugan Romano - although this is written by a non-believer, it
is a very eye-opening book which reveals many of the practical
and day-to-day issues that couples from differing backgrounds
need to work through. The book lets you come to your own conclusion
about whether it is wise or unwise to marry inter-culturally -
it basically lays the cards out on the table so that you can become
more aware of what you will need to consider in a cross-cultural
marriage. It can be wonderful - it can also be very difficult
and seemingly impossible. And so the key is to become away of
issues that need to be discussed and worked through before couples
choose to marry.

* "UNDERSTANDING THE ARAB WORLD" - book by Louis Bahjat HAMADA
- In this groundbreaking work, Mr. Hamada, a recognized authority
on Semitic Arabs and Muslim evangelism, strips away Western stereotypes
and misconceptions of the Arab people and reveals God's promises
and purposes for them. He probes the Scriptures and other ancient
historical records for answers to these questions:
Why are Western Christians so strongly anti-Arab?
Is there a Scriptural basis for this antagonism?
What, according to the Scriptures, is God's plan for the Arab
people?
How does the spread of Islam fit into the picture?
What are the reasons behind Arab terrorist activities?

easily recommend the previous one above this one.

secular Muslim World" - Bob Hitching. This is a skinny, EXCELLENT
book which every church planter in the Muslim world should read.
It discusses modern trends in the way Muslims are moving and the

we have often still got to come out from under those curses which

Jordan. Going on a short-term outreach, or a long-term outreach
for that matter, can be like going into outer space. You leave
home fast, and you come down hard! And in between is a totally
foreign and completely exhilarating experience. But what happens
when you get back home? Will your experience overseas be completely
misunderstood by your friends, your local church, and your loved
ones? Will you be able to translate the blessings of what you
experienced overseas into daily life back home? Will you begin
to compare your local church, and the ordinary eight-to-five workday
lives of most members, to your exhilarating experience of prayer,
evangelism, and close-quarter living with other missionaries and
workers? It is important to ask these questions- and more important
to answer them! I believe this book is key in helping every person
involved in short-term or long-term missions to come face to face
with the key issues of 're-entry'. I encourage you to work through
these issues, and to commit yourself to redeem everything that
God does for you, both in your overseas experience and as you
share and apply what you learned back home. Not only is RE-ENTRY
