OPPORTUNITIES
FOR CHRISTIAN ETHNODOXOLOGISTS / ETHNOMUSICOLOGISTS
There is a new place, since Dec. 2003, to advertise
for "teachers needed."
This is on the website of the International Council of Ethnodoxologists,
found at www.worldofworship.org
We have a section called "Opportunities" which includes
opportunities for
teaching, interning and performing. This section is located in
the
members-only area so you can't access it directly unless you join,
but I
can post announcements on behalf of others.

Music
Ministry Opportunity in GREECE
(opportunity added Oct
6, 2002)
Greetings in Jesus Name!
I am writing to let you know
about an opportunity for musicians in Greece. If you or any student
or contact of yours is interested, please write directly to the
following for further info:
Neil Macris
Email: Nmacris@aol.com
This may provide a valuable
ministry opportunity for a musician or band you may be working
with.
My contact met Neil recently
and wrote the following,
"...I met a church planter
in Athens working with GEM whose greatest need is for musicians
as per attached file. He has planted one church which has done
very well. He is of Greek descent. He is now planting another
in the northern suburbs which is proving pretty tough. They have
a small group of 5-10 people coming on Sundays. He feels the key
is appropriate worship music. Is there anything you can do to
help/provide people etc? Even if not, I thought you would like
to know that the kind of thing you are thinking of is desperately
needed."
Athens Church Planting
(Greater Europe Mission)
The Mission Field
Although the gospel of Jesus
Christ came to Athens, Greece via the lips of the apostle Paul
some 2000 years ago, born again believers in Greece number only
0.2% - the smallest community of believers in all of Europe (apart
from Albania and Malta). Even though 97% of the Greek people are
Greek Orthodox, only 2 % attend church regularly. Unfortunately,
the essence of the gospel and the purity of its saving message
have been lost under the overgrowth of humanly instituted traditions.
Like the Jews in Jesus' day, the Greeks neglect the commandments
of God, as they hold to the traditions of men (Mark 7:8).
Unbelievers outnumber Christian workers 125,000 to one and Neil
& Jennifer are one of less than ten full time missionary church
planters working in this country of 11 million people.
Goal for Musicians
To assist Neil and Jennifer
as they start a contemporary church plant (their second church
planting project), which will use a high quality rock band as
a central mechanism for evangelism and worship. As non-believers
come to hear the band, they will be exposed to the unadulterated
gospel of Jesus Christ. From these evangelistic concerts they
will then be invited to come on weekends to take part in the upbeat
worship and uncompromising teaching of the Word of God. The same
band will be playing in the worship at these regular weekend services.
Missionary musicians (full time) and possibly quality lay musician
will be involved in the church's weekly worship and evangelism,
as well as in discipleship
This new church will be a strategic
church, as Neil and Jenni pray and plan to make it a missions-minded
church from its very inception and have a duplicating (birthing
philosophy) already in place. The vision is for this church to
reach many Greeks, and then become a missionary-sending church
that will support and send missionaries to the surrounding world.
The Need
Quality Full-Time Missionary
Band Members: This is our greatest and most pressing need. We
urgently need quality rock/pop musicians who have a passion for
God, a passion for worship, love and know their music and instrument
well, and desire to use their talent for the advancement of His
kingdom.
Quality musicians who could
come for six months or more, which we could put into action tomorrow,
include:
1. Lead guitarist
2. Rhythm Guitarist
3. Keyboard
4. Bass Player - (have a potential bass player coming in Sept.
2002)
5. Drummer

NEEDED TO PROMOTE NEEDS OF GUATEMALAN CHILDREN
Posted
September 23, 2002
From: Les <lespeters@impactministries.ca>
- please contact Les directly if interested in the following possibility...
Impact Ministries is
working in Guatemala with children in remote mountain villages.
We provide care, discipleship, education, support and health care
for children of Mayan decent. These children come from homes that
are extremely poor. They are part of a people group where 65%
are illiterate. Our main goal is to enable the children to internalize
the word of God, apply biblical principles in their lives, and
live productive Christian
lives as a witness to the power of the gospel.
Our programs are supported
by sponsors who commit to care for a child. We are looking for
more sponsors...and would be interested in finding a music group/musician
that would promote this need.
Information, mission statement, history, doctrinal statement are
available
at
www.impactministries.ca
We would be interested in exploring a relationship with a musician/music
group that would be willing to do this. We would ask that the
individual/group sponsor a child, and visit the ministry in Guatemala
to be more familiar with the culture, Christian school, the success
of the ministry.
Are you able to help us in
this regard?
In Christ,
Les Peters

Hispanic
Church Plant in Iowa, USA, Looking for Worshipper Who Can Also
Lead Worship Songs
---------------------------------------------
From: "Katie" - tbaerg@hotmail.com
Received this request: Wed, 20 Sep 2000 12:46:16 PDT
Says Katie: …”We are a small Foursquare (pentecostal) Hispanic
church plant in Iowa.
Our vision is to provide a service, with worship and the Word
in their language. We believe God values children and the restoration
of families. Discipleship is a very integral part of how we choose
to see people grow in the Lord. We desire to train others to train
others!
Our heart is to touch the Hispanic people in our community and
to have them be able to touch people in the country that they
came from, having far reaching results. Prayer, missions and the
arts are other important aspects of the ministry of this church.
We are looking for a worshipper who plays the piano/synthesizer
or guitar and sings. We need a person with the same vision and
a willingness to serve. We are a patient but focused group! :
)Fluency in Spanish, and the Spanish culture is important.
We are all volunteers, receiving outside support in some form
or another. Though a small group, we have seen God orchestrate
some very impressive things. We look forward to what else He has
for us here. Could you be that extra person as we continue to
build our staff, while reaching
out to the 2000 hispanic people in our community?
Thank you as you consider this!
Katie
### PLEASE NOTE: If you are interested in this opportunity, please
email Katie directly at the email address stated at the beginning
of her message. Thank you.

CARTOONISTS/COMIC
ARTISTS NEEDED
----------------------------------
If interested in the following opportunities, please
contact them directly at: ROX35Media@aol.com
------
ROX35 specialises in international Christian COMICS training,
and we have more requests for our seminars than we have the time
and manpower to meet.
Comics really are the world's most widely read literature form,
particularly in countries of the 10/40 Window, and the church
worldwide needs and wants the necessary training to produce their
own comics-style materials for evangelism and discipleship.
In the past 4-5 years we've held events in the Philippines, Malaysia,
Thailand, Japan, Australia, Hong Kong, Romania, Ukraine, and in
the US, including one prison training. Between now and Feb. 2002
we are already looking at planned and proposed trainings for Japan,
Mexico, India, Thailand, Cambodia, (the Middle East), Singapore,
Brazil, and France.
Our goal is not only to hold these and future training seminars,
but eventually to identify, inspire, and/or develop qualified
training teams on every continent.
We're looking for young, up-and-coming and/or professional cartoonists
and comics creators who might be good Teacher Trainees, Media
Missionaries, Interns, Associates, and/or even ultimately the
"Joshuas and Timothys" who would carry on this mission when the
current principals get too old to be
lugging huge suitcases full of printed teaching materials and
comics samples around the planet!
Interested individuals can find more info at:
http://www.rox35.org/Trainee.html
If you have other questions before you can begin a search, please
don't hesitate to ask-- Thank you!
Every Blessing,
Nate
