INFORMATION ABOUT THE ARTIST
Paul Hobbs makes both celebratory abstract paintings, and painting and sculpture that consider contemporary social issues in the light of Biblical values, and which are deeply informed by his commitment to the Christian faith. These have included work on the Beatitudes, old age, fatherhood, family issues, conflict, and famine.

He exhibits in a variety of contexts: galleries, art centres, schools, churches, cathedrals and festivals. These events often involve talks and practical workshops generating discussion on the issues raised in the work.

In 2002 Paul was commissioned, by the retiring Archbishop George Carey, to make a painting on the themes of youth and Christian faith for Lambeth Palace, London.

Paul Hobbsart provokes the involvement of the viewer beyond a spectatorial role. It invites you to take a closer look, to get involved, to engage the spirit, to hear the truth about yourself and your world....... Such art engages you, tearing at the heart of your humanity and spiritual values.

Graham Dale, Church of England Newspaper.

The work of Paul Hobbs largely addresses issues of social concern, he utilises everyday items, such as newspaper cuttings, a teddy bear, or a machete, and puts them together in such a way that we are challenged to look at the world anew.

Richard Davey, Church Times.
