=============
L’ABRI - L’Abri is a
French word that means shelter. The first L’Abri community was
founded in Switzerland in 1955 by Dr. Francis Schaeffer and his
wife, Edith. Dr. Schaeffer was a Christian theologian and philosopher
who also authored a number of books on theology, philosophy, general
culture and the arts. The L’Abri communities are study centers
in Europe, Asia and America where individuals have the opportunity
to seek answers to honest questions about God and the significance
of human life. L’Abri believes that Christianity speaks to all
aspects of life.
UofN LAUSANNE
– COLLEGE OF THE ARTS - The Arts are an expression of
the nature and character of the Original Artist. Made in His image,
we have the capacity to create and enjoy things of great beauty.
The prophetic nature and universal language of the arts enables
them to uniquely impact and bring revelation to individuals and
whole nations. Artists have the ability to influence the world
in righteousness, truth and beauty. In order for this to happen,
the artist must develop excellence of character as well as technical
skill. The College of The Arts is committed to give students a
strong foundation in both of these areas through training and
modeling in formal and non-formal ways. The inclusive nature of
the College makes room for those beginning their artistic journey
as well as the seasoned professional. The College of The Arts
offers courses in the fine arts, performing arts and worship.
Students can participate in seminars, workshops, degree programs,
field assignments and internships. They can also be apprenticed
through a growing number of affiliated arts organisations and
companies involved in international arts festivals, performing
arts expressions, and cultural exchange opportunities through
the fine arts. Foundation courses provide safe and creative environment
in which the student can explore various art forms under the guidance
of skilled practitioners from around the world. Field assignments
allow students to gain further experience and expertise through
appropriate arts related opportunities. More advanced courses
are offered in selected disciplines for those who want to further
develop their skills. Professional artists whose careers make
it difficult to attend full time courses may participate in workshops,
seminars and international arts events in a variety of locations
around the world. Students who attend the College of The Arts
will be helped to develop skill, character, and a coherent world
view that validates and encourages artistic expression and cultural
diversity. They will be given opportunities to be involved in
artistic expressions that reflect a Biblical world view on all
of life, preparing them to creatively impact their world with
truth and beauty. Fax +41-21-784-2320 Telephone +41-21-784-2323
