tntntogo@iname.com Tom is a member of the IMB Team working among the Waci
(Wah-chee) people of Togo & Benin and also serves as an Indigenous Music
Catalyst for groups requesting assistance. He has worked with various people
group teams in West Africa (as of May 2001: 16 people groups in 6 countries).
Our primary focus has been encouraging the creation of Scripture based songs
using traditional musical styles. The process has 3 phases: 1) Basic research
into the traditional musical culture of the ethno-linguistic people group
and begin a musical profile of the people 2) Dialogue with local believers
about the research & use of traditional music and teach on the functions
of music in the life of a believer 3) Conduct composition workshops. The
new songs are recorded on-site using battery operated equipment. His wife
Tina serves as primary recording technician. Copies of the cassette are
made available at a cost. This has resulted in open doors for the Gospel
among several of the groups. A seminar on music evangelism was developed
at the request of leaders in the Ife (Ee-fay) churches. This seminar combines
Scripture based songs in traditional musical styles with Bible storytelling
& drama as a means for sharing God's Word and starting churches. After
this seminar, at least 9 churches were started among this people in the
year 2000 using this method. Two of the churches were started in villages
where the chief had previously refused to allow a Christian witness. (A

Richard Mauney (Furman University, Florida State University, DMA Southwestern
Baptist Theological Seminary), single, serving with the International Mission
Board, S. B. C. since 1996 at Emanuel University in Oradea, Romania. Emanuel
University is a Christian school preparing pastors, music leaders, teachers,
and social workers. Among the nearly five hundred students are a number
from Russia, Ukraine, Moldova as well as Romania. Courses include worship,
philosophy of church music, hymnology, organization of the music life of
the church, and Christian view of the arts. Other areas of ministry include
coordinating chapel worship services and supervising students in their music

Appointed as a career music missionary in 1980 to Brazil. Served as a pioneer
church music promotor with the Baptist churches in the state of Ceara (1982-90),
as a professor in the Church Music Department of the Equatorial Brazil Theological
Seminary in Belem (1991-1996). Currently lives in Brazil's federal capital
of Brasilia, where she is Coordinator of Music and Worship for the Eastern
South America region. Objective: "To act as a catalyst in the creation,
development and promotion of Christian music in the 'heart music' of the
people undergirding my colleagues in their ministries, inspiring and encouraging
them, and providing beneficial worship tools, materials, and resources that
can be utilized in church planting movements, evangelism, and established

Paul has been a music missionary in Bulgaria for 8 years. He and his wife
serve the Sofia Baptist Church in music ministry, directing adult, youth,
and children's choirs as well as a praise orchestra and training future
leaders. They develop music for all the groups and teach music to students
to provide future music leaders. The Ridgeway family gives concerts around
Bulgaria to help spread the gospel through music and to draw people to Baptist
churches and church plants who would not otherwise come to an evangelical
church. Paul has taught seminary courses in music and worship.
They are deeply involved in volunteer ministries though partnerships with
US churches and conventions.
