Housing Needs
SOME SPECIFIC DISABILITY HOUSING NEEDS

+Minimal walking required in the house,
from the car to the house, from the house to the common area/leisure center
+ Ability to get out in case of fire
+ Live enough on a hill so flooding not a big potential problem
+ Level entry
+ Level throughout
+ 2 bedroom (or 3 if price is good enough)
+ No steps
+ Big shower or preferably a self-enclosed stand-up tub/shower? Like on TV - ie. Premier easy bath step in bathtubs (with enough room to maneuver (sp?) for a larger person like myself)
+ Big living room able to contain 10-20 people quite comfortably - also able to be used to teach plasticine lessons or whatever...
+ Office about the size of the office I had at my first place in Surrey behind Maureen's old place (or bigger so I can include my book, video and tape libraries in there, as well as some shelving for plasticine figurines
+ Preferably located near where I am or nearer to Gateway near to stores like IGA, PO, etc. so I can easily Scoot out to get things as needed..
+ BIG WIDE window sills so I can put plants and knick-knacks on them
+ bright inside since I am negatively affected by dark rooms (SAD?)
+ BIG WINDOWS - lots of light - window grips which I can manage easily - blocks of wood which I can put in the tracks to keep the windows from opening too easily
+ windows that OPEN!!
+ preferably ceiling fans to keep the place cool
+ in-house laundry facilities
+ plenty of electrical outlets per room
+ access to fuse box?
+ suite all above ground
+ would be nice to have a patio outside some patio doors so I could sit outside and enjoy nature
+ Storage space for a smallish freezer in the garage?
+ ability to have a cat or small dog or chinchilla, etc. - and enough space to keep it's things/litter box inside somewhere
+ Good-sized storage room!!! To house all my extra STUFF and wheelchair, indoor grill, walker, porta potty chair, etc. etc.
+ Enough space in preferably heated garage (so I can store my Scooter there (or elsewhere in the house?) without the batteries freezing
+ Big enough so I can drive my scooter around inside if necessary
+ Big enough place to store extra food/pantry type
+ Raised toilet - for handicapped people
+ preferably a bidet
+ Grips on sinks, shower, etc. which are easy for me to use
+ Bars in shower? And by toilet to help me up if necessary
+ Rent good price about what Im paying now or perhaps about $600 month?? (if my income also goes up quite a bit)...possibility of buying if God provides a down-payment?
+ Preferably subsidized housing with a sliding scale
+ Utilities
+ Ins.?
+ Spare bedroom? Or at least a hide a bed in the living room as well.
+ If in a town house a REC center so I can have lots of people over, train people, have music/arts events, prayer meetings, house churches, etc. IF in a townhouse, would need to find out what the politics are like...and what I would be required to contribute...I would not be able to manage a stressful coop dictatorship as is so often the case
+ Disability-equipped
+ A fair-sized kitchen
+ suitable cupboards so I can properly access things in them - whether the higher ones or the low ones, since I can't reach very high and I can't reach the things in the back of the low shelves under the countertop
+ adequate counter top space so there's
room on there for the various appliances I need to help make life easier -
and so I don't have to get them out of my cupboard all the time
+ dishwasher
+ Rug that doesn't show the dirt too easily
+ Enough cupboard space so I'm not cramped
+ A place CLOSE to my door where I can park my car hopefully inside an enclosed, locking garage with an electric door opener with enough space close by for my Scooter maybe even a heated garage?
+ A place where I don't have to look after the outside, etc. ie. trees, flowers, etc.
+ A place where I have easy access to the garbage and recycling without having to walk more than a few feet, hopefully

+ Big glass doors, level, so I can walk outside and sit outside

+ French door to office??
+ Colors that go with my stuff&preferably teal/pink in the rug or cupboards or whatever&(though white would also be fine for cupboards and some other colors of rugs, too
+ fireplace preferably gas fireplace - or nice real-looking electric one if cheaper
+ Ceiling fans
+ Outdoor patio right outside my big glass doors so I can sit outside
+ sensor lights
+ Somewhat of a backyard
+ Art Studio and place to store products and have piano, music, ethnic instruments, etc.
+ WHITE appliances
+ Big want for the future sometime&on a hill overlooking a river/ocean, etc. but also in a treed area but still in town - (if possible)
