GETTING CONNECTED with Canadian Musicians/Artists
Interested/Involved in House/Simple Churches
For those musicians and artists interested or involved in house/simple churches in Canada, I'm wondering if you would be interested in connecting with other musicians/artists involved in house churches across the country?
Some reasons: to get to know each other, encourage & pray for each other, share vision with each other, seek the Lord together about potentially taking some steps (in His timing) to develop ways to reach out into the marketplace around us through the arts - as well as ways to encourage the house churches/networks we're involved in locally through the arts, share and pool resources, see how the Holy Spirit leads and perhaps develop artistic projects together in the future - locally or on a national level.
If you have music or other art forms which can be promoted through the web site, have your own art/music/media web site which you would like to have me promote, or wish to have me promote your work through the regular 'Christianity & the Arts', the 'Ethnic Worship & Arts Focus' free e-newsletters, or through the CHCRN Newsletter, I would be happy to do so as a free service. I'm also in the process of developing some INTERNSHIP and SHORT TERM ministry opportunities for musicians and artists who want to learn (in a relational, informal and mentored, hands-on approach in a very multicultural setting here in Surrey, BC), some ways in which to utilize their artistic gifts in lifestyle evangelism in the marketplace - whether here in Canada or internationally. I'm hoping to have this in place so I can have interns and short termers here for 2007. So if you are interested in beginning to discuss such possibilities with me, feel free connect with me about that and we'll take it from there. You would be involved in house churches while here. You would also be working in conjunction with local believers from house churches or traditional churches which share similar vision and which we are networking or partnering with.
Although we try to put together training for you which is as tailor-made as possible to the things on your heart regarding the arts, the Great Commission and the Kingdom of God, a major focus for the Great Commission Worship & Arts Center (http://DiscipleTheNations.org) is to utilize the arts/God's artists to reach out to the many local refugees, to the homeless and street people, as well as other marginalized groups. Whatever we do here is also opportunity to help equip you also for international ministry, perhaps working with house churches in other nations. Some missions focus on planting house churches, for example, and we seek to work closely with them.
The types of opportunities and internships/short terms available are almost unlimited, I imagine…it depends on how the Holy Spirit leads, but I am about to finish putting together the rest of the internship opportunities that I can present to you, shortly, so will send that to interested parties as possibilities to consider or spring-board from as I hear from you about what's on your hearts.
Perhaps there are others you know of that may be interested but are not receiving this newsletter... would you consider letting them know and perhaps interested parties could let me know of their interest directly?
And perhaps those responding can also let me/us know whether they've sensed the Holy Spirit already putting things on their hearts that He may desire for us to do together in the future?
