Ethnomusicology Training Program (Canada) - Prairie
Bible College and Graduate School, Three Hills, Alberta, Canada, sponsors an
annual Ethnomusicology Institute for five weeks during May and June. The program
is designed to provide a basic theoretical foundation in applied ethnomusicology
for missionaries and musicians preparing for cross-cultural ministry. These
courses are offered:

re the Utilization of Ethnic Music / Ethnomusicology in Church Planting / Missions

SIL Ethnomusicology Dept. offers courses - The SIL Ethnomusicology Department
will again offer courses geared toward preparing missionaries for effective
cross-cultural music ministry at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in
Ft. Worth, TX during the summer of 2000. The introductory course (Applied Ethnomusicology)
will also be offered January 10-14, 2000. The summer courses consist of a suite
of three graduate courses which can be taken individually. Applied Ethnomusicology
is a two credit hour course which covers the philosophy and tools for cross-cultural
music ministry. It can be taken by missionaries without formal musical training.
Course date is
June 19-23, 2000 (as well as January 10-14, 2000). The other two courses are
taught concurrently. They are Analysis of Non-Western Music and Field of Ethnomusicology/Anthropology
of Music. The latter two courses are three credit hours each and will be held
July 10- August 9, 2000. Those wishing further information may contact the SIL
