"The Quest for Significance
---------------------------------------
Where does the Christian find his or her identity and sense of worth? From a career... relationships... a ministry? This is too often the case. However, Jesus pointed us away from the realms of outward accomplishments and the honor of man to the inward encounter with the burning affections of God's heart as a means of discovering our true identity and sense of significance…"

CHAGALL: STORYTELLER
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
Vancouver Art Gallery
Closes Feb 8, 2004
http://www.vanartgallery.bc.ca/exhibitions_chagall.cfm
"In 1930 Chagall was commissioned to produce a series of Bible illustrations. His arbitrary decision to illustrate many scenes not traditionally treated resulted in a unique and personal vision of his religious roots. For him, the main figures in the Jewish Bible (Old Testament) reflected both the history of his ancestors and the living reality that was taking shape in Palestine." From SOUL FOOD

ARTFORGOD.CA - There is a new web site, based in Vancouver, called www.artforgod.ca which is developing into an on-line gallery where people can purchase art as a means of supporting missionaries and budding Christian artists. This idea came couple months back when I was in prayer about financial support and asking the Lord what He wanted me to do. My mind kept coming to this idea. I feel really good about the initiative and pray that it will be an encouragement to those who visit and view the art. Please pray with me for wisdom and success to help support the ministry. Also, feel free to check it out and tell others about it!. www.artforgod.ca!! - Faytene Kryskow

ROB BERG
From: http://www.sealionrob.com
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

"Born and raised in Chilliwack B.C. (Canada) into a wonderful family (father, mother, and four sisters), Rob has been a Christian and involved in music since his early teens. Though still based in Chilliwack, since 1987 he has been ministering full-time, travelling to over 20 different countries to date (including Romania, Russia, Germany, South Africa, and New Zealand) to share the Gospel and encourage believers.
As a singer/songwriter/missionary (or musicianary, as he refers to himself) he has ministered with many various church and mission groups, and organisations (including Luis Palau in Romania, YWAM, and YFC).
In regard to music, Rob accompanies himself on guitar and piano singing his own original songs, inspired by his own life experiences and walk with Christ. His style is best described as folk-rock, and is very adaptable to a variety of venues and age groups. He has several albums available in CD and cassettes.
I love what I do. It is, at the same time, the most fulfilling, exhilarating, difficult, frightening, rewarding, adventurous, gut-wrenching, lonely, and meaningful thing I've ever done. I have decided to pursue meaning, not happiness, in life, and I am convinced there is no greater meaning and no higher cause for one to live and die for, than to follow Christ and the call of God.
As sure as I am of anything, what I do is God's calling on my life. I am still full of flaws and struggle with many things, but I am pursuing God's call and I am still so amazed and honoured that He calls and chooses us." - Rob

WOMEN & TV / MOVIES WITH MORALITY
-----------------------
From: newWway December 1, 2003 e-newsletter

"…What can we learn from the world of secular TV about involving Christian women in missions? TV Week ran a special report on "What Women Watch" (TVWeek 11/10 p. 21ff). They say demographic targets continue to be women 18 to 49. Advertisers say that female viewers watch TV more than men. Men take twice the money and time to influence for everything from programs to products because they are relatively more mobile or distracted. Carole Black didn't intend for "Lifetime" to catch on, it just filled a "really big niche." Today LifeTime is the #1 cable network in prime time. However, MTV is #1 for 18-34 in prime time. (VH-1 is #2 for women 18-49 in daytime.) Discovery Channel's audience is 68% female. E! Networks report 27% increase in viewership among 18-34 women. Of the Top 10 TV shows that skew female, five are on UPN which reports 70% female audiences. And then there's the whole Oprah empire with the TV show contracted to run at least through 2008. Exactly half of the lost in our world are women. Is there something to the women's issue in missions that we're overlooking? Are our teams, our Webs, our brochures something that women engage? Are missions supporters just "blue-hairs" or is the next generation engaging The Commission? What special roles do women in media embrace today? Ya can't have lizards without females!…" editornw@hotmail.com .

MOVIES WITH MORALITY: BOX OFFICE GOLD!
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Movies with strong traditional values and a Christian worldview do extremely well at the box office. So reports MovieGuide in its annual study of Hollywood movies. Of 275 major movies reviewed, "the study consistently shows that movies with 'strong Christian content, biblical principles, godly virtues and traditional moral values' earn the most money." In fact, MovieGuide founder Dr. Ted Baehr (member of the NRB Board of Directors) states, "In 2002, for example, there were 10 movies with very strong traditional moral values and they earned nearly $77.4 million on average, but the 63 movies with very strong immoral or non-Christian worldviews earned only $15.9 million on average." Some of the success stories include: Spider-Man, the Lord of the Rings Trilogy, Remember the Titans, Spy Kids and others. For the complete details, log on to www.movieguide.org. (NRB)

USA: Missionary "Reality" TV Series Aims to Inspire and Inform`
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"The creators of a new reality television series say they wanted to give a unique look into the world of frontline mission work. The series, called "Travel the Road," follows the adventures of 28-year-old William Decker and 24-year-old Timothy Scott. Over an 18-month period, the pair traveled to 25 countries, covering more than 40,000 miles while they shared the gospel, chronicled everything on videotape - and carried one backpack containing a change of clothing. Michael Scott, executive producer of the series, explains that the show offers viewers a first-hand look at the life of a missionary. "When [people] watch it, what we want to really instill in them is to take a new look at missions [and to] see what it's all about," he says. "We're trying to inspire a new generation of missionaries to go into all the world and preach the gospel." Scott, a pastor's son, says he has received e-mails from across the world telling him that the series has inspired viewers to "really take a look at missions" and to realize the Lord has placed a similar calling on their lives. According to the producer, the focus of "Travel the Road" differs significantly from reality series such as "Survivor" that include large monetary prizes. "[In our case] the TV show was secondary," Scott says. "What was most important [to us] was the mission that the guys were on. It wasn't necessarily that this was a TV show - what we wanted to do was document and show what was going on." "Travel the Road" can be seen every Tuesday and Saturday night on the Trinity Broadcasting Network. All 12 episodes of the series are also available on VHS or DVD format through the program's website. Plans for a sequel are in the works. Artist: Chris Wright
For further info on Chris's book of poetry, check out this web page. All proceeds go towards the ministry work of the artist, who heads up the Westpointe Arts Ministry in Vancouver.

As well as this poetry book, there are several other art mediums represented, including painting, photography and music - you will find the book under the 'Poetry' section. There is an info page, with links to previews of three of the poems, as well as a link to a brief info page on the work of ministry I am involved in. If you are interested in ordering copies, please contact me through the above web site.

Please also note that under the 'Music' section of the website, the CD 'Heart Cry' is displayed, of which I was a part of the writing and recording. If you are interested in this CD, you are welcome to purchase these directly through me, using the contact info listed above.

More of my art work will appear soon: I have put together a collection of photography, and several of those photographs will be displayed and copies made available through the website.

Finally, two more projects:

Over the past year and more I have written and compiled a second book of poetry, titled Where Morning Dawns and Evening Fades.

I also have a music recording project underway, titled Glory.

MENDED FEATHERS - painting
http://www.artforgod.ca/Painting%20Pages%20fk/mended%20feathers%20page.htm

This painting is a prayer and declaration of healing for the First Nations peoples of Canada. Using traditional First Nations colours. The 2 feathers are eagle feathers. The red on the right side of the feather spine symbolizes healing that can only come through the blood of Jesus. The sun is symbolic for the verse from Micah "Son of righteousness will arise with healing in His wings." The Holy Spirit is rising from behind the feathers to illustrate the truth that as the First Nations are healed by the power of God they will come forth with power in the Holy Spirit

Each Bible Study has a specific topic based on a yearly theme. This years theme is JESUS AS OUR PEACE (Jn. 14:27). The Bible Studies will include things like a 'Warm-Up' (some game ideas), 'Transition' into the meat of the bible message. One page will be for the Leaders for them to work off of and the other side will be a work sheet to photocopy for the students to write on. The Bible Study guide will also have CD to go with it. The CD itself will have 6 Sound Bytes to go along specifically with each Bible Study. FREE CLASSIC E-BOOK -- "Serve Him With Mirth" by Leslie Flynn, asks if humor is a forgotten area of Christian ministry. It is one of a handful on this subject published in the past 50 years, and it remains the only book which covers all aspects in detail. For example, the cultural and linguistic gap between us and the books of the Old and New Testaments can prevent us from understanding the frequent use of irony, whimsy, word-play and puns. We expect no humor, so we see none. This is tragic. Learn more at http://www.gospelcom.net/guide/resources/mirth.php
